02/23/08

Dominance War has started again and I'm going to actually finish my entry this year. Gonna be a crab type creature, click the pic to go to my thread on Polycount.

Barflez is in Unreal but on hold till DW is over.

also Devil May Cry 4 is pretty good, I've played through it a few times now and am currently working on a playthrough of the hardest difficulty. If you like hack n slash games that can provide some challenge then pick it up, or just wait till june when the best game ever will be released.

01/26/08

Been workin on my old Blizzard competition entry.

Should have more to show soon.

06/20/07 - Holy Shitballs

So yea, I haven't updated this in forever. Year and a half by my math.

Warcraft, it's a helluva drug.

But it is not my drug anymore.... so it's time for me to make stuff again, and not be such a lazy-ass.

01/19/06 - Stuff

Changed hosting again, well sort of.

I'm no longer sharing a site with my friend lucbag (lunchbag), so there was some downtime while I switched everything over. My apologies to the 3 people that read this thing, especially if they were checking it all at the same time right then to see if I updated (which I didn't).

Tonight I updated some pages a bit and even though I put up some more Age 3 stuff months ago I guess I'll mention it now (right now).

In terms of artwork I started working on a Klesk model due to the thread on polycount focused on reviving Quake 3 characters and putting them in Quake 4. Not sure if my klesk will ever end up in Quake4 depending on how the game handles custom rigs, but it'll make a nice piece one way or another and its good practice.

I'm trying to poly model most of it to beef up those skills, rather than just throwing it into zbrush after building a rough mesh. Here's what I have so far.

more in the wip folder of fun

Hopefully I won't flake out, and I'll actually finish this one.

After this, Armor Girl returns!.... sort of.

10/30/05 - Update 2 : Electric Boogaloo

Finished up rendering the last of what I started in the last update. EF2 art is there. Age of Empires 3 art is there. CZ art is there.

Sadly some of the Age 3 stuff will be offline until a solution for rendering normal maps out of Max becomes viable. The characters dont look quite right without their normal maps, and the normal map to bump/displacement conversions just look ugly.

Between my professional/personal work and my WIP folder I think I increased the amount of content on my site about 600% in the last 2 days. Hooray for me!

10/29/05 - Holy Update!

Wow it says the last update was 5 months ago! Well, lots has happened since I last updated. Did about 2 months of crunch at work, Age 3 went gold, Got a Month off once we shipped, and the game is now out in stores. Plus I moved apartments and had a birthday, so it wasn't complete laziness that kept me from putting up some news.

I got the bug to update this thing so there is tons of new and old stuff in the 2d/3d section. The old being Counterstrike stuff and once I find it, EF2 stuff to go with. The new being Age of Empires III content. I forgot to grab a few files so some of it is placeholder at the moment. I also made the thumbnail images bigger since I realized I hate small thumbnails after visiting a few sites similar to mine. The new ones should paint a better picture as to what awaits in each page.

I put in a WIP folder that has old and new(ish) crap for the people that have been asking me to do something like that forever.

there was some other stuff I was gonna mention but I need to crash.

05/23/05 - e3

I got back from e3 on friday. It was my first e3 and after all I had heard about it, I was still surprised by the large amount of people (mostly nerds) present. There wasn't much next gen console presence for what was supposed to be a big e3 for them. Most of what was cool to me were PC titles. Starcraft ghost had an excellent cinematic as expected. Huxley, Hellgate : London, Prey, Serious Sam 2, and the Quake games all looked pretty cool too.

Here's a pic of me enjoying Battlefield 2 and a link to more

more pics

I also got to see Audioslave play since they were a musical guest on the Jimmy Kimmel Show which was about a block from our hotel. Their new album comes out tomorrow too, which will hopefully be pretty cool as I was a big fan of the first CD. Speaking of CD's a new NIN cd has been released since I last updated and I have to say its pretty swell! Hopefully I wont have to wait 5 years for another one!

3/9/05 - mini tutorial

added a small tutorial that cover some of the basics of how I paint. click

2/8/05 - heads part 2

I AM ON A ROLL. Finished another head model tonight, this time a friendly fun monster.

2/5/05 - Orc head

I've been getting back to making some art for fun So far I've just got a few heads I'm working on, one of which is finished and is the point behind this update. It's an orc, in Blizzard's Warcraft style but with a more realistic texture pass, and with more of a cinematic character's face count for just a head.

1/18/05 - Future of the interweb

Well, I decided to change hosts, so people visiting my site wouldn't have to deal with the banner ads, and it just makes the site look better, which is pretty much like spraying perfume on a turd anyway. Anyways, I'm now sharing a host with www.lucbag.com (future of the interweb) so you can go visit that if you want. I wouldn't really recommend it though, since I just went and can't figure out what the hell it is. Right now it just appears to be a gif of uselessness and not a whole lot else.

Resident Evil 4 is a good game. I suggest you get it if you have a gamecube, and if you don't there's never been a better reason to pick one up.

1/9/05 - Age of Empires III announced!

Hooray!

Age 3 was announced last week! You can pick up the newest PCgamer for a full article all about Age 3, other than that I'm not really allowed to talk about it but its pretty exciting just the same.

Haven't updated in a while, damn WoW has me hooked. You can find me playing an undead warrior on the dethecus realm with a lot of other guys from ensemble.

Also..

Anyways, hopefully I'll get some new art up sometime soon.

10/31/04 - new model

Anyone who knows my reading habbits knows im a big Dark Tower nut. I'm currently reading the finale of the series and decided to resurrect an old model of Roland Deschain thats been on my harddrive for a few months. It originally was very high end, but I brought it down to around 2600 faces. check it out here

10/23/04 - site update

Well.. it seems its been a while..

I changed the site slightly and made the 3d models some better renders.

Moved into a new apartment over the silence, if I'm not too lazy I may put some pictures up.

Got a new tablet too, the old one finally died, so I'm the proud owner of a shiny new 9x12 Intuos 3. I dont really notice much of a difference between it and the Intuos 1 besides the pen being alot nicer and it looks a little sleeker but i haven't had much time to try it out yet either.

with the holiday games all starting to come out I haven't done much new artwork. with half life 2, and a slew of others still on the way im not sure if i'll ever get anything done.

It's almost hard to believe but in a few weeks I'll have been at Ensemble Studios a year, time sure flys when you start getting old I guess. Juan Martinez, who i worked with at Ritual, had his first day last week at ensemble. Hopefully he likes ES as much as I do

Plus, its my birthday monday the 25th (I'll be 23) so send me lots of presents and/or paypal money.

7/28/04 - concepts

put up some pages with a few concepts i've done recently for the cgchat comp20

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM in a week.

6/27/04 - update

time for an update. put the new magdalena up - click -

updated some of the other pages aswell.

i attended the Massive Black/Conceptart.org workshop a few weeks back which was just as kickass as it was hot as hell. you can see a few pictures

here http://www.poopinmymouth.com/net/pics/massiveblack/

and here http://www.artbyphil.com/ca_workshop/

anyway it was an awesome experience, along with getting to meet some polycounters i haven't met yet, gauss and his brothers, r13, vito, jeffro, joolz, scoobydoo, steady, and probably someone else im forgetting because im a bastard.

also heres a peak at a UT character im working on, just got it in the game yesterday. anyway click below to go to the thread which i'll be updating as i make progress

plus, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ROGUE 13

5/25/04 - zbrush

put a head i made in zbrush up, its a pretty nice program once i got used to the interface.

4/11/04 - minor update

i put 2 new models into my 3d section, one being a non textured entry into a cgchat competition, and the other what will probably also end up as a non textured entry into the current cgchat competition. i guess its good i didn't make a thread for it

hey look at me

i picked up painkiller and farcry the other day too. painkiller rocks, i love it with all of my body (including my peepee)

im liking farcry pretty good too, though i have more complaints about it than i do painkiller, mainly getting sniped by some asshole with a rocket launcher halfway accross the map in a tower, or killing 20 mercs, barely surviving, only to get shot in the ass by some guy half way across the map. either way its still pretty enjoyable, and beautiful if you have the hardware to run it.

merry easter

4/1/04 - skinning video - hellboy

i put a skinning video up featuring hellboy

check it out here

3/28/04 - gonna bone u qube

i haven't updated this thing in forever. seems i'm falling into the same habbits i had with my old site.

anyway, updated the contact page with an actual current and working email address, and added some links to my links page.

i've been playing ninja gaiden and the game is goddamn awesome. for the first time in a number of years i beat the game, and then decided i was going to play through it again, and on the ever popular very hard mode. truly a masterpeice in the hack and slash/adventure genre.

I also picked up ut2004 (special edition) and i'm loving that too, onslaught is a blast, and i've got an idea for a level im going to try my hand at if i dont get sucked into something else.

11/22/03 - New Tutorial

continuing as promised on the tutorials, this one is a beginners intro to materials in max

11/20/03 - New Job/New Tutorials

wednesday this week was my last day at Ritual Entertainment, and I'm now at Ensemble Studios. Leaving ritual was a VERY hard choice to make and something I really struggled with quite a bit, but I truly wish them the best of luck on their current and future games. You're a great bunch of guys and i know you'll kick some ass with whatever you work on :)

I'm pretty pumped about working for ensemble, been a big fan of the AoE games for a long time.

in related news, Counter-Strike : Xbox came out this week.

I've also put the first of a string of tutorials dealing with UVmapping, and Materials in 3ds Max

check it out

11/02/03 - New Stuff

new model/texture, low poly character

10/21/03 - Back Online
